About Jack Newton

Residing in beautiful Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan with his partner of twenty years, Lucretia, Jack has taken a singularly unique path in life.

His professional career has been varied and taken him all over the world, including stints as a CIA operative in Central America in the 1970's; the first man to interview J.D. Salinger; and master chef to Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands.

Now retired, Jack spends his time with his camera and his family, avoiding discussion of his past in lieu of the promises of the future.

About Jack's Photography

Jack cites Robert Capa, Robert Mapplethorpe and Man Ray as his photographic muses. Employing basic equipment - a single digital SLR, few lenses, ambient light - Jack travels the world looking for moments or scenes of interest and unique perspective.

Jack says that he really doesn't have a genre or specific set of subjects which interest him. He points his camera at everything from flowers to construction projects to obscure alleyways in the cities around the world.

"I'm just as excited about an interesting view of a bridge being built as I am about finding a 'once in a lifetime' moment happening in front of me" says Jack. "Often when I'm specifically looking for a particular shot, I find myself shooting almost anything but what I'm looking for."
