About Toby Cummings
I'm from the Black Hills in Hot Springs, SD. I entered into the design field at an early age with Photoshop, because my mother worked at our local newspaper designing advertisements.
That was Photoshop version 3, I'd been bitten by the familial "design bug"! After that, I branched out into page design, logo creation, photography and Web design. I've come to believe there is great power wielded by the visual design of everything around us. Never before has it been more important for designers to hone their skills and study their craft, in order to use the art of design to its fullest potential.

In terms of photography equipment, I use an Olympus C-50 digital camera. I absolutely love Photoshop and enjoy finding new ways to push my images to their fullest potential. I'm primarily a nature photographer. However, I'm also captivated by landscapes; especially those featuring sunrises and sunsets. Recently, I have expanded my range of images to other subjects such as architecture and various objects. After taking a digital photography course at The University of South Dakota, I'm now more conscious of how to create compositions that are more complex and dynamic. I'm always experimenting with different lighting conditions and enjoy capturing the changing moods of the seasons.
Other Genres that Toby Enjoys
Along with photography, I also dabble in the realm of drawing and design. It wasn't until I attended college at USD that I realized my potential for hand-drawn techniques. Prior to my art classes, I was accustomed to stick figures and smiley faces with beady eyes! I had the artistic vision for digital graphic arts, but my sketching techniques were average at best. It didn't take long for me to understand that art is not only an art: it's a science. I haven't done too many hand-drawn designs: I will be incorporating them more in my future works. I'm currently attending The University of South Dakota and will graduate in May 2007 with a bachelor's degree in Visual Communications.
