About Teri
I started out my professional career as a journalist in 1983, and by 1984 found I hated interviewing people. As a favor, I wrote some advertising and put together some menu copy and photos for a friend who owned a restaurant. He began sending customers to me for similar projects, and by the end of 1984 I started my own company, creating text and graphic designs for restaurants, hotels, casinos, and travel-related businesses. Travel eventually wore me down, and in early 1991, I scaled back from doing corporate work to re-establish myself in working with small businesses, start-ups, expansions, and non-profit organizations.
I live in South Jersey, just across the river from Philadelphia. I am blessed to have my 84 year-old mom and a small, furry herd of squirrels, chipmunks and bunnies who live with me and a wonderful friend and companion named Mark Bersalona, who supports and encourages me in all my creative endeavors.
Teri's Photography Background
My personal hobbies include ballroom dancing and photography, which is somewhat related to how I found out about printbusinesscards.com. With Mark's encouragement, I took up photography about 4 years ago, simply so I could take better photos of our dancing friends at competitions. In learning to use a new digital camera, I began photographing the squirrels and rabbits in my backyard (all of whom are named), figuring that they move roughly at the same speed as dancers across the floor. I posted many of the photos at Flickr, and received tremendous help and advice from Mark and the other members there in how to improve my photos and my skills.
Much to my surprise, I received several requests through Flickr from folks who wanted to "buy" some of my test shots of squirrels and birdfeeders. At first, I simply gave them away to all who asked...then I learned from others in the Flickr community that there was a market for all kinds of photos, and particularly artwork and graphics at the microstock agencies. Many of my images are still available for free to non-profit organizations, particularly those that benefit children, animals, and wildlife. 20% of all income from my photos will be donated to St. Jude Children's Hospital and Woodford Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge at the end of the year.

I have been selling some of my work at Dreamstime, BigStockPhotos, CanStockPhoto and 123rf for about six months now and it was there that I came to admire the work of Sybille Yates and Denise Beverly, and thus found my way to PrintBusinessCards.com. Generally, I use both CorelDraw12 and Serif DrawPlus6 as the main vector programs for creating my original artwork. In some cases, where photos or bitmaps are required, I will do the composite and finishing touches in Adobe Photoshop Elements 5.0.
