Classical Beauty and Cosmetics

Humans have been using cosmetics since the beginning of time. Berries, colored muds and other natural compounds were often used to create tribal markings or ritual displays. However, what we consider traditional cosmetics didn’t appear until about 4000 B.C. in Egypt. This is where we have the first archaeological evidence of cosmetic products being manufactured and used to beautify one’s appearance. Throughout the next 6000 years, cosmetics experienced periods of acceptance and rejection.

During the ancient times cosmetics were used by the Egyptians, Greeks and Romans. The Bible even mentions the use of cosmetics in the book of Esther. By the Middle Ages only the aristocracy could afford to use cosmetics, and makeup became a status symbol. However, by the Victorian era, cosmetics were degraded to something that only prostitutes wore making them a symbol of low social status. Fortunately, cosmetics regained wide spread appeal and acceptance by the 20th century, and today cosmetics make up a multi-billion dollar industry.

Cosmetic Companies

There are dozens of cosmetic companies around today. Some focus their products on a specific ethnicity, skin type or skin problem, while others take a generic approach to designing products. Some of the most popular cosmetic companies operating today include: Mary Kay Cosmetics, Jafra Cosmetics, Estee Lauder Cosmetics, AVON and Bobbie Brown Cosmetics. If you work for any of these companies then you will want to design a cosmetics themed business card. Use your company’s logo or use one of our cosmetic themed business card templates.

Beauty Specialists

Another group of professionals who work with cosmetics are beauty specialists. This group of professionals includes, but is not limited to: dermatologist, plastic surgeons, beauticians, beauty consultants, image consultants and beauty pageant consultants. If you belong to this group of beauty specialists then you will want to implement a cosmetics theme into your business card’s design. You may also want to include your own photo in your business card’s design to add a personal touch.

Cosmetics Merchandisers

While your job is more of a behind the scenes position, cosmetic merchandisers have a very import job, to create eye catching cosmetic displays. Without your expertise, salespeople would have to work two or three times harder to make a sale. Like all beauty professionals, you need a professional looking business card. Your card should have a cosmetics themed layout, it should provide your contact information and it should include elements that entice retailers to hire you to merchandise their cosmetics.
